When designing driveways/front gardens, priority must be given to all functional requirements of the space - that is not in question. However, once all required functional space has been identified, it is important to proceed with the design choosing plants  and materials which will maximise that welcoming garden ambience which the approach to any  home should have.

We choose a wide range of natural surface materials from natural stone flags, setts and pebble  to pre-cast paviors and slabs for our driveways.

 

We  like to use water features where possible whether as part of a traditional or contemporary garden design. It can bring movement and drama or stillness and calm while it’s reflective qualities enhance enjoyment of the surrounding plants and structures. Water used in conjunction with garden lighting transforms the night-time garden.

A note on special features: We provide a complete garden lighting and water feature installation service. We have associations with metal fabricators, engineers, carpenters, brick-layers, stone-masons, electricians and glaziers with whom we are in a position to design and construct bespoke features for example overhead canopies, pergolas, sculpture, water-features and gate/intercom systems. We also have access to favourable prices for saunas and hot-tubs.

 

We plant mature specimen trees and shrubs which offer  structure and privacy  to our gardens, while we place an emphasis on herbaceous perennials to achieve seasonal variation and colour. We plant quite densely  to accommodate the requirement for low maintenance gardens. In all cases, the customers preferences are paramount when considering garden planting.

Whether  designing a large country garden or an urban courtyard, we favour the inclusion of a number of patios to avail of sunlight throughout the day and also for the enhanced enjoyment of  different views in the garden. Patios should be generously proportioned to accommodate comfortable use of  garden furniture. Above all, our patios are wrapped in planting to create a relaxing and intimate space.

 

In the rural areas in which we work, our plans will emphasise indigenous plant choices, which will help to harmonise structures with their surrounding environments. Where there are specific requirements surrounding for example,  septic tanks, we will represent the necessary structural, planting and level requirements on our plans.

In the urban/suburban  context, we can process applications for any structural work that has an impact on the garden for example widened entrances for driveways or the construction of garden rooms. In the case of listed buildings, we will provide the necessary conservation documentation.
